Practical Engineering built the Crane Data Acquisition System (Crane-DAS) to provide operators with immediate access to their operational data.
The Australian Standard AS2550.1 specifies that if a crane is not fitted with an Automated Logging System, a penalty will be enforced when calculating the Design Working Period (DWP). Without access to the required data, crane suppliers can recommend end-of-life replacement hoists and cranes. However, with a logging system, replacement is rarely necessary or cost-effective.
With an effective maintenance strategy and the Crane-DAS Automated Logging System, users can maximise asset life and maintain compliance with Australian Standards.
Managing Director, Rod Tait, highlights that “we set about designing a Crane Logging System from an operator’s perspective”. Tait explains that the “Crane-DAS gives easy access to your valuable crane operating data [and] a wealth of information allows optimum scheduling of maintenance and assessment of remaining life or Design Working Period (DWP)”.
