Meet our people - Scott Cox
Having worked in various trade industries, both in Australia and Internationally, for over twelve years, Scott brought to Practical Engineering a diverse and extensive skill set. Scott was originally involved with architectural steel but progressively moved into more mechanically challenging roles.
In February 2014, following four years of full-time university study, Scott moved from Toowoomba to Brisbane and returned to the work force as a trade supervisor, performing complex rebuilds of Australian Naval vessels. Scott completed his Bachelor or Engineering (Mechanical) through the University of Southern Queensland in November 2014.
Scott joined Practical in 2015 as a Mechanical Engineer and has spent time working in our Project, Consulting and Business Development teams. In the Business Development team, Scott worked closely with new and existing clients. Now back in the Consulting Department, Scott strives to deliver the most innovative yet practical solutions to clients’ needs.
“I particularly enjoy bringing a sense of the real-world to my work at Practical and finding efficient solutions to our clients’ problems.” says Scott.
An example of recent jobs of this nature that Scott was involved in include the high risk removal and assessment of an industrial boiler stack.
Continuing to grow his skillset, Scott completed a Graduate Certificate in Structural Engineering in 2017 and is currently working towards his Welding Supervisor qualification (AS1796 Certificate 10).
Scott is hardworking, highly motivated and passionate about engineering and fabrication – so much so that during his spare time Scott’s hobbies include honing his engineering and fabrication skills in his personal workshop. With a strong work ethic, astute technical knowledge and experience, Scott enjoys the problem-solving challenges that working at Practical provides.
Scott is engaged to be married in late 2018 and the Practical team wish Scott and his fiancé every happiness during this time of preparation.
