Practical Engineering designed and manufactured process testing skids for BHP Billiton for their trial of a new processing technique for hot acidic slurry at their Olympic Dam mine site.
We designed skids that treated a bypass process stream and then returned the product back into the existing plant. This allowed BHP Billiton to test the processing techniques they were trialling under realistic operating conditions.
The skids included fibre glass tanks and piping systems and rubber lined slurry pumps and screens. PLC controls were used to maintain tank levels and flow rates.
We delivered the plant in compliance with BHP Billiton’s site specific requirements and Fatal Risk Protocol.
