Following project initiation with the Western Drilling Limited team in Brisbane; Practical Engineering mobilised a team of engineers and draftsmen to Port Moresby PNG. The scope of works included re-design of a sub-base structure to allow for heli-portable lifting, part by part, into the PNG highlands.
Over two days on site, our engineers and draftsman gathered the necessary design information of a Houston built rig.
On return to Brisbane, we created a 3D model based on site gathered information. This model would enable a re-design of a sub-base structure incorporating certified lifting points/ fork tyne pockets into the 4T sub-assemblies to allow for time efficient rig move via helicopter.
The scope of work included detailed drafting and structural certification of the sub-base design to appropriate Australian (AS1170 set) and international (API 4F) standards.
