Seqwater identified capacity limitations and safety concerns on an existing 2t gantry in its Capalaba Pump Station in southeast Queensland. Practical Engineering Australia worked on an initial concept with the client to estimate capital costs and develop a scope of works for tender documents.
Following a successful tender process, Practical Engineering was awarded full design, procurement and site installation of a larger 3t gantry and hoist system for retrofitting into the pump station.
The design phase included runway and mount bracket design and procurement of an OEM supplied 6m long 3t gantry. The concept was fully detailed and design drawings RPEQ approved and signed off by the client prior to a 48hr shut-down of the plant for install.
Our projects team successfully removed the original gantry via precise disassembly and removal using a Franna crane. The runway and mounted brackets were then fixed internally to the concrete columns. The last piece of the puzzle was to place the new purpose built gantry on the runway, via hoisting of the new gantry through a removed section of the roof.
The project was commissioned on site by our team inclusive of site load testing, operator training and issue of an O&M manual.
